Welcome to GEM Custom Fishing Rods.  I hope to educate and inform you about true custom fishing rods and the advantages they have over off the shelf rods.  There are some fine commercially manufactured rods available today, there are also some very poor ones made.  For the most part you will still get what you pay for in the fishing tackle industry.  If you buy a $15.99 discount store special, that is what you get, a cheap rod that probably feels more like a stick than a fine instrument or tool for fishing.  If you buy a $200 major manufacturer bass rod, you get a much higher quality rod with better components.  But if you go for the custom rod, you will get top of the line components along with the hands on building of the rod to exactly what you want for the fishing you want it for.  Plus it can be customized or decorated to make it a completely unique, one of a kind rod.  If it is sitting in a rack on a charter, there will be no mistaking yours for anyone else’s.  None of that “I thought it was mine” or “looks just like mine, sorry”.  You might get people wanting to use it and to handle it but they and you will know it is your rod.
